Best Ribs in Atlanta

Like most people Sunday is for relaxing and a nice dinner. The Viking and I enjoy taking Sunday to cook a good meal, play a few rounds of Uno and watch Game of Thrones.

This Sunday was no different, while shopping at the farmers market I found a nice rack of baby back ribs. I love to grill or even smoke my meat, when I tell my friends a lot of the time they tell me how they are not comfortable with cooking ribs on the grill. There is no reason to feel this way!

With a few tips and tricks you to can become a grill master and impress your friends and family at your next Sunday dinner.

1. Pick fresh not frozen ribs (if you can). Break them out of the packaging and pat them dry.

2. Flip the ribs over you will see a membrane cut the membrane with a knife to help tendering the ribs.

3. I like a dry rub, everyone is different, but do what you like and season to taste. This recipe was a combination of paprika, garlic, salt, pepper, smoked seasoning, ginger and brown sugar.

We don't have a smoker so I use smoke boxes.  Today I used water, white wine and a beef cube with apple slices. There are many types of smoke boxes or you can make your own with a bread pan. Make sure if you use wood you soak it in water over night so they don't catch on fire.

4. To keep your grill at a low temperature you can use a brick to prop it open. It's a slow and low process so keep it around 250*. They if you are  looking you aren't cooking. So other than a quick flip about 2 hours in don't mess with them.

5. Put the ribs meat down first. After 2 hours flip them over. Then 2 more hours unwrap them and let them cook for another hour to dry them out.

I made a BBQ sauce, in a sauce pan bring ingredients to a quick boil and then let simmer. Once you have open up the package the ribs are in you want to coat the ribs every 15 minutes of the last hour. Mine was a blueberry and ginger sauce but make what you like.

I also made beans and corn to go with dinner. I let the ribs sit for about 30 minutes before I cut them and severed them for dinner.

Have fun with fun food, experiment with flavors and pour yourself a drink. With these tips you will have great ribs for a Sunday or any day.

Kula the Revolving Sushi Bar

If I say Sushi, what would you say? YES! Is the only correct answer.  I had the pleasure of eating at the newest Sushi place in Doraville this week, called  Kula  it is an international brand, with 400 restaurants in Japan and this is the 13th revolving sushi bar in the US. They have places in California, Texas, and now Georgia.  Hosted by Davo Eda, the Public Relations Manager, he was so kind to invite me in to see the new place. He even let me bring a friend, so of course I brought my favorite lady Callie, to help me eat and take pictures.  We were introduced to Mr. Fresh, it is the plate holder for the conveyor belt, "he" holds the green plates of food and treats. There was a tutorial of how to grab the food from the belt, as well as how to order from the menu and dispose of your plates. Mr. Fresh keeps the food germ free, has a chip in it for timing and every 2 hours he lets a specialists know it is time to throw the food out. This technology helps cut dow

A relationship is like a good chili

On a cold day I love nothing more than a nice bowl of chili. Im sure most of us feel the same. I love getting fresh veggies and a great lean meat and making it myself, letting it cook most of the morning so I have something to warm my belly at night. My chili has lots of layers of flavor to it and changes depending on the products I have available to me at the market.         As I was making chili this week I was thinking about my current single status. And I started laughing...relationships and chili are very similar. Im sure I am not the only person that has thought of this, but I instantly decided this was going to be my next topic! So here we go!         My chili recipe calls for a large pot (I like a dutch oven), to start. I place it on a medium high heat and add oil. I have chopped up a larger white onion and a few cloves of garlic. I add this in and let it cook down till tender. I then add my peppers, now you can chose how hot you want your chili I personally like a spic
