The Broken Meatball to get to know me is to love me...

Many times Ive sat down to write, mostly on blogs that are already out there. I have a couple of pages on Facebook. (you can look them up BrokenMeatball and Mancation). I enjoy cooking and do it as often as I can, a blend of comfort food and healthy. I also love to bake I dont have much of a sweet tooth, but I love to bake and give all the sweets away. Being single is tough and the best way to not get down on yourself is to find something to do that you have a love for. A few years ago after leaving my long term relationship I moved in to this little 1  bedroom apartment. It was not much but I loved it. I invited my friends over all the time and cooked all the time almost every night. The food was good the company better. My friend suggested I name the kitchen, this way they have something to check in to on Facebook and foursquare and The Broken Meatball was created.  I decided it would be a new Italian restaurant with a spin on the dishes I grew up on. And so the story is born, I continued to cook for my friends and family. And after a while I started to give cooking classes. My friends would come over and I would teach them what ever they wanted to learn. See the rule in my kitchen is the same as my grandmothers. If you want to know how to make it you have to come over and make it with me. Cooking is the easy part to let all you know a recipe is very easy to follow. Its the finished product that shows the true dish, it needs to look as good as it tastes.

I want this Blog to be more than about my food and recipes while it will be full of pictures, recipes, and how to's. I want it also to be about the journey of my new life as a single girl in Atlanta and my travels with my friends. I want you as a reader to share as well. So here we go with the first of many.

Keep Cooking!

Kula the Revolving Sushi Bar

If I say Sushi, what would you say? YES! Is the only correct answer.  I had the pleasure of eating at the newest Sushi place in Doraville this week, called  Kula  it is an international brand, with 400 restaurants in Japan and this is the 13th revolving sushi bar in the US. They have places in California, Texas, and now Georgia.  Hosted by Davo Eda, the Public Relations Manager, he was so kind to invite me in to see the new place. He even let me bring a friend, so of course I brought my favorite lady Callie, to help me eat and take pictures.  We were introduced to Mr. Fresh, it is the plate holder for the conveyor belt, "he" holds the green plates of food and treats. There was a tutorial of how to grab the food from the belt, as well as how to order from the menu and dispose of your plates. Mr. Fresh keeps the food germ free, has a chip in it for timing and every 2 hours he lets a specialists know it is time to throw the food out. This technology helps cut dow

A relationship is like a good chili

On a cold day I love nothing more than a nice bowl of chili. Im sure most of us feel the same. I love getting fresh veggies and a great lean meat and making it myself, letting it cook most of the morning so I have something to warm my belly at night. My chili has lots of layers of flavor to it and changes depending on the products I have available to me at the market.         As I was making chili this week I was thinking about my current single status. And I started laughing...relationships and chili are very similar. Im sure I am not the only person that has thought of this, but I instantly decided this was going to be my next topic! So here we go!         My chili recipe calls for a large pot (I like a dutch oven), to start. I place it on a medium high heat and add oil. I have chopped up a larger white onion and a few cloves of garlic. I add this in and let it cook down till tender. I then add my peppers, now you can chose how hot you want your chili I personally like a spic

Goodbye to a Friend

I'm There are times in your life where it seems you are at someone's going away party. Friends get new jobs, they marry, or even leave for school. All kinds of reasons for a move. Some friends you throw a party some friends you take to a bar and some its a nice dinner. My friend Laurie is moving out of state for a new job. I wanted to give her a foodie night out so I did some research and found a new place Endive Publik House at 1468 Mecaslin St NW, Atlanta, GA 30309.  It's new opened in March and is only open Thursday thru Saturday. I recommend making reservations this place is smaller and has few seats. The menu is inventive and fresh. Some foodie plates for those of you that want to expand your palette and some go tos for those of you that would never eat 'that'. What ever that may be.  We started with a bottle of red wine a Pinot Nior recommended by our sever.  Two appetizers a Trio plate of dips with homemade chips and pickled vegetables. We also had a Fig and
