Food in Atlanta is at it's best FLIP and Urbana

After a week of eating like I was 24 again I can let you all know I will be working out everyday moving forward. However, to start my summer I went out for dinner during Buckhead Restaurant Week. I picked FLIP which by far is a favorite of mine. It's Wednesday night in Atlanta it's hot and sunny and what did I need well of course a burger and shake. Go no where else but FLIP in Buckhead. We walked right in before the rush of dinner and sat out on the patio. I ordered a new drink they have for summer (they have a new menu for each season) a Peach Sangria  it was sweet and so cool. I loved it served with an over flow of dry ice for a smoke effect I loved every sip.

We started with the fried app sampler. It has vodka battered Onion rings, sweet potato tater tots and French fries. And of course all the sauces you may need. My favorite is the Blue Cheese foam.

My date ordered the Chorizo burger with a fried egg on top. I decided to order the burger of the month it's a beef burger stuffed with MAC n Chz and topped with collard  greens. The sweet of the cheese and the sour of the greens have it a great combo of flavor. I loved every bite.

To finish off we ordered Shakes. Now so you know if you are on Foursquare and check in on it you can get a FREE that's right a FREE shake. I got the Captin Crunch it's my favorite salty and sweet so perfect. My date ordered the Krispy Cream I have to say it was pretty dang yummy too! All In all you can't go wrong with this place for a burger and a great drink. Stop by! And check in on Foursquare!

Now to keep it going we went out on Thursday night to a new place call Urbana they are located in West Midtown a new spot in town that is growing with food and entertainment.

If you are looking for some true Mexican food that isn't your day to day tex mex this is where you should go. They start you off with a sample of one of there soups. We had the beef. It was a perfect taste of Harry beef and fresh cilantro and a crunch of onion.

They have a Tapas feel so we ordered a bunch of small plates and shared. First was a banana wrapped in bacon could not go wrong with that combo. Grilled to a crisp and served w a sweet creamy sauce.

Next was an empanadas filled with beef and very fresh and tasty! The dough so perfect and light. I could have eaten both but knew that would not be a nice move.

Another highlight was the taco list a great option for ala carte a selection of fish meat chicken and pork. There was also a veggie for you 'no face' people.

Soft shell tacos fresh tortilla and ingredients you can pick a couple and share.

We finished our meal with a pana cotta that was a special treat! You can tell  chef has a feel for textures and flavors! A strawberry pure over it and some fresh mint. I could not get enough of it.

Now some secrets ... The Mole' is great I asked for a small sample and honestly would have ordered a container of it to take home so order it! And the margaritas are light and fresh not to sweet and the spicy one is very good perfect for a hot night!

Stop in and take a seat on the patio or at the bar and enjoy the New Mexican food in Atlanta! I sure did.

JCT Kitchen and Sunday Supper

During the holiday season Derek and I decided to go back to JCT. We have been there before dinner and drinks for my birthday which was great!  Sunday Supper is a great idea the JCT does. A course menu for under $30. It's such a great idea! First things first, make a reservation while you can sit at the bar for dinner table side service is very nice and there is always a long wait! So please make a  reservation!  Second, get there early. This helps with two items one it's nice for the staff to have you checked in ahead of time for seating rotation. Two you can sit at the bar and get a craft cocktail from one of the knowledgeable bartenders.  So we sit down and order our meal. Everyone starts with homemade biscuits and jam. And a course of devil eggs. Our biscuits came out late due to running out (they are that good) and the first round of the biscuits where over cooked but replaced quickly! The eggs are fantastic all what you need and just like moms only a lot better!...

Seven Lamps a hidden gem in Buckhead

We can all agree if you live in Atlanta that this summer has been pretty fantastic for weather. So to enjoy the summer nights as best I could I headed over to Buckhead and decided I would try a new place.  So here I am driving through a parking lot and off to the right tucked behind the storefronts was a little patio with covered tables. I pulled in and walk up to the front desk. Asked the girl if we could sit outside and off we went.  You have a choice between family style tables or little metal cafe tables. There are a few chairs you can sit in and have a cocktail or glass of wine.  We sat at the table and immediately had water brought over. I ordered a Rose' and my date a beer. I think it was called Naked Pig. He loved it!  The chef serves a pickled plate instead of bread. All done in house and soooo tasty. The menu is innovative. Local farm to table meals. The menu changes daily based on what is available. I was told the produce was sold by Farmer Dan...you can't...

Nuevo Laredo Cantina best Mexican in town

Nothing better on a bright and sunny afternoon than a margarita on the rocks and some good company. So this week I decided to go on an adventure and check out Nuevo Laredo Cantina located at 1495 Chattahoochee Ave NW, Atlanta, GA 30318. It's a great little hidden spot in Atlanta that has some of the best Mexican food you can find!  Walked in and got a table in the main dinning   area. Where you will find decor that is Charming and funny. Lots of pictures and some great signs! Chips and fresh salsa hit the table first. The chips are warm and salsa is fresh and spicy! The server came on and took out orders. We ordered margaritas on the rocks w salt now I will tell you the drink to order is the Cadillac margarita it's big and fantastic, but it was a week day so I went with the smaller one still as tasty just smaller!  The serve them by the glass or pitcher and prices start at $6.50.  Now I will have to let you in on a secret if mine.
