BBQ Can Make the Heart Fonder

Now Im sure you have heard the old saying "a way to a mans heart is through his stomach"... Well let me tell you a secret. The same is for women! We love nothing more than a man cooking for us. In my experience it does not happen often. And I personally love it to come home to a house that smells of food and it not be because Im cooking.

Men let me tell you it is very sexy to come home to you doing the work! Now over the weekend I had the pleasure of this happening. Ive been out on a date with a new guy and what do you know I made it to date number 2! And he asked if I wanted to come over to his house so he could cook! What?!?! this is a great idea...He asked me a few questions about my likes and dislikes. And then he was off.

I came over to his place for dinner, around 630. As I walked to the door I could smell the smoker going, the smell was intoxicating! I knock on the door and wait...he opens it and Im knocked over by the smell of meat, garlic, and wine. Music playing, Wine chilled, and apps on the table. It was great! Ive never had a guy cook for me! Maybe make a cold sandwich but thats it...this is a first for me.

He poured me a glass of wine and told me to take a seat. I sat and watched him cook. On the menu was mac n chz, creamed spinach, and bbq beef ribs. He had prepared a plate of cheese, fruit, and such for us to munch on while we waited for dinner to finish. I asked if I could help..he let me finish the toppings on the mac n chz. I cut some veggies for us to munch on. We talked, sat out on the porch and waited for the meat to finish up.

He did give me some of the recipe of the ribs he made and I will share...

2lbs of beef ribs bone in
Garlic
Onion
Salt
Pepper
Mustard
Soy sauce
Honey

he says you cut and trim the ribs to your liking, and then in a zip lock bag you place the meat and all the ingredients in, seal the bag and rub it in well. Let sit in the fridge over night and then place in the smoker for 3-4 hours. Dont open the door! Now while I think there was more to the recipe. Most will not give all the secrets away on first met. I think I got most of what is needed for a good rib. I will say the mac n chz was a 5 cheese blend, very tasty and well cooked.

We had a great time and I hope to see him again. Maybe this time I will cook for him!

And for the guy out there that wants to get a special lady to really like you...Cook her something! Even if you have to break out a cook book and follow it line by line, we love it! Not every lady needs a big date with all this money spent. Ask her about her favorite foods, drinks, and sweets, and then make them for her. And if you are feeling crazy break out a board game! LOL! At least you will find out what kind of girl she is win or lose!

Good Luck to those still looking for love...and keep cooking!

Kula the Revolving Sushi Bar

If I say Sushi, what would you say? YES! Is the only correct answer.  I had the pleasure of eating at the newest Sushi place in Doraville this week, called  Kula  it is an international brand, with 400 restaurants in Japan and this is the 13th revolving sushi bar in the US. They have places in California, Texas, and now Georgia.  Hosted by Davo Eda, the Public Relations Manager, he was so kind to invite me in to see the new place. He even let me bring a friend, so of course I brought my favorite lady Callie, to help me eat and take pictures.  We were introduced to Mr. Fresh, it is the plate holder for the conveyor belt, "he" holds the green plates of food and treats. There was a tutorial of how to grab the food from the belt, as well as how to order from the menu and dispose of your plates. Mr. Fresh keeps the food germ free, has a chip in it for timing and every 2 hours he lets a specialists know it is time to throw the food out. This technology helps cut dow

A relationship is like a good chili

On a cold day I love nothing more than a nice bowl of chili. Im sure most of us feel the same. I love getting fresh veggies and a great lean meat and making it myself, letting it cook most of the morning so I have something to warm my belly at night. My chili has lots of layers of flavor to it and changes depending on the products I have available to me at the market.         As I was making chili this week I was thinking about my current single status. And I started laughing...relationships and chili are very similar. Im sure I am not the only person that has thought of this, but I instantly decided this was going to be my next topic! So here we go!         My chili recipe calls for a large pot (I like a dutch oven), to start. I place it on a medium high heat and add oil. I have chopped up a larger white onion and a few cloves of garlic. I add this in and let it cook down till tender. I then add my peppers, now you can chose how hot you want your chili I personally like a spic

Goodbye to a Friend

I'm There are times in your life where it seems you are at someone's going away party. Friends get new jobs, they marry, or even leave for school. All kinds of reasons for a move. Some friends you throw a party some friends you take to a bar and some its a nice dinner. My friend Laurie is moving out of state for a new job. I wanted to give her a foodie night out so I did some research and found a new place Endive Publik House at 1468 Mecaslin St NW, Atlanta, GA 30309.  It's new opened in March and is only open Thursday thru Saturday. I recommend making reservations this place is smaller and has few seats. The menu is inventive and fresh. Some foodie plates for those of you that want to expand your palette and some go tos for those of you that would never eat 'that'. What ever that may be.  We started with a bottle of red wine a Pinot Nior recommended by our sever.  Two appetizers a Trio plate of dips with homemade chips and pickled vegetables. We also had a Fig and
