Johnny's Hideaway Should Just Hide!

Now I will start with this...it was my boyfriends 40th birthday and he loves this place and while the server was great let me set the scene a little for you. Number 1 if you under the age of 50 you are no the demo for this place and the managers (by the way there are a couple) don't care for you then. The place is over stuffed with tables and chairs and little room to move, that have been in that bar since 1970.  You have to pay to valet and there is no other option. And they only take cash so prepare yourself for that one! Number 2 it turns out in this crap bar that wouldn't know an update if someone smacked them in the face with it. Including their food and drink options. They have a dress code yes I said it a dress code!! Now it's not posted on their web site...but there is a sign on the front door. Turns out you can't have writing on your shirt. Not a logo name brand nothing! Now I'm all for dress up on a night and had they stuck to this in all aspects I would respect this but...things you can wear according to the 'manager' a knock off Tommy Bahama a crop too tank too and cut off jean shorts or go for the flip flops and tank top choice my favorite is the I just got off work and sell trucks and cars at Ford or Nissian but no means can you spend money on a disigner shirt with their logo on it! My friend was told to turn it inside out...now how this makes it better I don't understand. But somehow this makes all the difference!!! When confronted about the lack of discretion with the other patrons he informed me 'he makes the rules' so 'my little friend' could flip it inside out or leave!!! After asking 2 times for him to understand that he was picking a chiding what he liked he let me know that's why he has the job. My friends left! And if it was not for the party of 15 inside we would have too! And we didn't stay long anyway the place was not all what I hoped it would be! Again the server was very nice she was sweet and on top of us. Now I will say if you have a large party you have to put a card on file and you can't have individual tabs. And because of that we did end up with a few more drinks than we should have.
In closing the place has an old vibe with some great people watching if you want to watch creepy old guys stair at the girls and cougars hit on the young studs. If your a girl apparently wear what you want cause the mangers don't care but if you are a young guy do not I repeat do not wear a shirt with a logo or writing on it you will be turned away at the door! Sorry Johnny's it may have been my first time there but you will not see me or my money again! And with an average tab of $75 from my friends that night you will not see them either!
And if you notice no pictures! It's cause they aren't worth the upload! Bye Johnny's! Bye!

Kula the Revolving Sushi Bar

If I say Sushi, what would you say? YES! Is the only correct answer.  I had the pleasure of eating at the newest Sushi place in Doraville this week, called  Kula  it is an international brand, with 400 restaurants in Japan and this is the 13th revolving sushi bar in the US. They have places in California, Texas, and now Georgia.  Hosted by Davo Eda, the Public Relations Manager, he was so kind to invite me in to see the new place. He even let me bring a friend, so of course I brought my favorite lady Callie, to help me eat and take pictures.  We were introduced to Mr. Fresh, it is the plate holder for the conveyor belt, "he" holds the green plates of food and treats. There was a tutorial of how to grab the food from the belt, as well as how to order from the menu and dispose of your plates. Mr. Fresh keeps the food germ free, has a chip in it for timing and every 2 hours he lets a specialists know it is time to throw the food out. This technology helps cut dow

A relationship is like a good chili

On a cold day I love nothing more than a nice bowl of chili. Im sure most of us feel the same. I love getting fresh veggies and a great lean meat and making it myself, letting it cook most of the morning so I have something to warm my belly at night. My chili has lots of layers of flavor to it and changes depending on the products I have available to me at the market.         As I was making chili this week I was thinking about my current single status. And I started laughing...relationships and chili are very similar. Im sure I am not the only person that has thought of this, but I instantly decided this was going to be my next topic! So here we go!         My chili recipe calls for a large pot (I like a dutch oven), to start. I place it on a medium high heat and add oil. I have chopped up a larger white onion and a few cloves of garlic. I add this in and let it cook down till tender. I then add my peppers, now you can chose how hot you want your chili I personally like a spic

Goodbye to a Friend

I'm There are times in your life where it seems you are at someone's going away party. Friends get new jobs, they marry, or even leave for school. All kinds of reasons for a move. Some friends you throw a party some friends you take to a bar and some its a nice dinner. My friend Laurie is moving out of state for a new job. I wanted to give her a foodie night out so I did some research and found a new place Endive Publik House at 1468 Mecaslin St NW, Atlanta, GA 30309.  It's new opened in March and is only open Thursday thru Saturday. I recommend making reservations this place is smaller and has few seats. The menu is inventive and fresh. Some foodie plates for those of you that want to expand your palette and some go tos for those of you that would never eat 'that'. What ever that may be.  We started with a bottle of red wine a Pinot Nior recommended by our sever.  Two appetizers a Trio plate of dips with homemade chips and pickled vegetables. We also had a Fig and
