D'Vine in Dunwoody so Good it was on RHOA

Not sure if you are up on the latest reality shows but our little wine bar in Dunwoody D'Vine was on Real Housewives of Atlanta this week. I screamed like a little girl when I saw Bob the owner and his staff in the bar.
A little background on D'Vine, it's been a staple in Dunwoody for several years  it has an outdoor patio that allows smoking (hard to find now a days).  A large bar inside with plenty of hightops for seating w groups. There are two side rooms for large parties one with its own bar.
On occasion they have tastings in the rooms. We went to one for Saki, we had several tastes from all over the country. The speaker had lots of knowledge and made it a lot of fun!
The bar itself has a large selection of wines that do change and rotate often. And a menu that changes 3-4 times a year with a few regulars that will never leave like the crab cakes and margarita pizza.
As some of you may know by now I've been dating Derek the Viking. Not his real name but if you meet him you would understand the nickname. Almost a year ago he asked me out for our first date and said we should go to D'Vine it was a Monday night and on Mondays the have Uncorked it's a great thing! Every Monday a list of about 50 wines are yours to taste at will for $18. You are served tasting sizes of as many as you want. And it's luck of the draw some nights you can get some very expensive samples!
The list is broken down for you and the bartenders are very knowledgeable about the wines they serve so ask all the questions you need too. The lists also let you know what is limited and very limited open so you can grab them first if you  don't want to miss out!
On our first date we had a cheese plate the anti pasta plate and with a few other snacks. Which really is the way to go. Most of the menu is appitizer size. Last night we went with the Cesar salad and a Bianca pizza the salad was light and citrus filed. The pizza was crispy and is a personal size so good for two!
After drinking from the list and enjoying your time learning from the staff about what it is you are drinking. You can shop in the store and buy a couple bottles to go home with. Most if not all of the wines, ports and champagnes are priced better than other stores in the area.
Next time you are in the area stop in for a glass or 3 and tell Bob hello.

Kula the Revolving Sushi Bar

If I say Sushi, what would you say? YES! Is the only correct answer.  I had the pleasure of eating at the newest Sushi place in Doraville this week, called  Kula  it is an international brand, with 400 restaurants in Japan and this is the 13th revolving sushi bar in the US. They have places in California, Texas, and now Georgia.  Hosted by Davo Eda, the Public Relations Manager, he was so kind to invite me in to see the new place. He even let me bring a friend, so of course I brought my favorite lady Callie, to help me eat and take pictures.  We were introduced to Mr. Fresh, it is the plate holder for the conveyor belt, "he" holds the green plates of food and treats. There was a tutorial of how to grab the food from the belt, as well as how to order from the menu and dispose of your plates. Mr. Fresh keeps the food germ free, has a chip in it for timing and every 2 hours he lets a specialists know it is time to throw the food out. This technology helps cut dow

A relationship is like a good chili

On a cold day I love nothing more than a nice bowl of chili. Im sure most of us feel the same. I love getting fresh veggies and a great lean meat and making it myself, letting it cook most of the morning so I have something to warm my belly at night. My chili has lots of layers of flavor to it and changes depending on the products I have available to me at the market.         As I was making chili this week I was thinking about my current single status. And I started laughing...relationships and chili are very similar. Im sure I am not the only person that has thought of this, but I instantly decided this was going to be my next topic! So here we go!         My chili recipe calls for a large pot (I like a dutch oven), to start. I place it on a medium high heat and add oil. I have chopped up a larger white onion and a few cloves of garlic. I add this in and let it cook down till tender. I then add my peppers, now you can chose how hot you want your chili I personally like a spic

Goodbye to a Friend

I'm There are times in your life where it seems you are at someone's going away party. Friends get new jobs, they marry, or even leave for school. All kinds of reasons for a move. Some friends you throw a party some friends you take to a bar and some its a nice dinner. My friend Laurie is moving out of state for a new job. I wanted to give her a foodie night out so I did some research and found a new place Endive Publik House at 1468 Mecaslin St NW, Atlanta, GA 30309.  It's new opened in March and is only open Thursday thru Saturday. I recommend making reservations this place is smaller and has few seats. The menu is inventive and fresh. Some foodie plates for those of you that want to expand your palette and some go tos for those of you that would never eat 'that'. What ever that may be.  We started with a bottle of red wine a Pinot Nior recommended by our sever.  Two appetizers a Trio plate of dips with homemade chips and pickled vegetables. We also had a Fig and
