Atlanta's Dogwood Festival

I love a spring day! I love a spring festival even more and Atlanta (midtown area) really knows how to do this well! Every year they start off spring with the Dogwood Festival in Piedmont park in the heart of Atalanta. And this past weekend it could not have been better. Sun was out the heat rolled in and the clouds stayed away long enough for us to enjoy our spring tradition.

I started the day at Park Tavern restaurant on the fat side of the park I will have to say it is a great place to sit people watch grab a drink and a fantastic meal! The service is always good and so is the food! If you sit on the patio you can look out over the park and on a day like Sunday we got a little sun on our skin. We started out our meal w mimosa's and they treat you well here $14 gets you a bottle of champs and juice! We ordered the lobster king crab and spinach dip w pita chips. While waiting on my friends I sat and watched as people came and went into the park. Our sever was very attentive and always had a smilie on her face! Dropping off plenty of water for us as we enjoyed our food and drinks. Some of the people in our party enjoyed Bloody Mary's and beer as well.

I ordered a burger that was cooked perfect and served w fries. The bun was soft and fresh and the meat was tender! My date ordered the fish tacos which I have to say are some of the biggest I've seen around town.  Fresh and crisp the fish was light and tasty!

After lunch we walked around te park and enjoyed the festival. I love how there are sections for the kids and family and how they even have a place for the dog lovers!

The art was fantastic lots of local and southern artists this year. I myself purchased a hand made wooden train for my nephew made by a man located in Illinois. He even offered to ship it so I didn't have to! A friend of mine purchased some art for her living room. And of course you can't get away with out getting a big fresh lemon aid.

We walked over to the main stage and listened to the music if you get lucky you can get a chair maybe even a table but the park does allow you to bring chairs. The bands really were diverse this year. Lots of bands even played original music.
We stayed till sunset and headed off for dinner and fun in midtown.

I will say that this was the very first event I  went to in Atlanta when I moved here last year and it will be something I do every year from now on. Next time you are in Atlanta in the spring please come out and join us in the park for some fun!

Kula the Revolving Sushi Bar

If I say Sushi, what would you say? YES! Is the only correct answer.  I had the pleasure of eating at the newest Sushi place in Doraville this week, called  Kula  it is an international brand, with 400 restaurants in Japan and this is the 13th revolving sushi bar in the US. They have places in California, Texas, and now Georgia.  Hosted by Davo Eda, the Public Relations Manager, he was so kind to invite me in to see the new place. He even let me bring a friend, so of course I brought my favorite lady Callie, to help me eat and take pictures.  We were introduced to Mr. Fresh, it is the plate holder for the conveyor belt, "he" holds the green plates of food and treats. There was a tutorial of how to grab the food from the belt, as well as how to order from the menu and dispose of your plates. Mr. Fresh keeps the food germ free, has a chip in it for timing and every 2 hours he lets a specialists know it is time to throw the food out. This technology helps cut dow

A relationship is like a good chili

On a cold day I love nothing more than a nice bowl of chili. Im sure most of us feel the same. I love getting fresh veggies and a great lean meat and making it myself, letting it cook most of the morning so I have something to warm my belly at night. My chili has lots of layers of flavor to it and changes depending on the products I have available to me at the market.         As I was making chili this week I was thinking about my current single status. And I started laughing...relationships and chili are very similar. Im sure I am not the only person that has thought of this, but I instantly decided this was going to be my next topic! So here we go!         My chili recipe calls for a large pot (I like a dutch oven), to start. I place it on a medium high heat and add oil. I have chopped up a larger white onion and a few cloves of garlic. I add this in and let it cook down till tender. I then add my peppers, now you can chose how hot you want your chili I personally like a spic

Goodbye to a Friend

I'm There are times in your life where it seems you are at someone's going away party. Friends get new jobs, they marry, or even leave for school. All kinds of reasons for a move. Some friends you throw a party some friends you take to a bar and some its a nice dinner. My friend Laurie is moving out of state for a new job. I wanted to give her a foodie night out so I did some research and found a new place Endive Publik House at 1468 Mecaslin St NW, Atlanta, GA 30309.  It's new opened in March and is only open Thursday thru Saturday. I recommend making reservations this place is smaller and has few seats. The menu is inventive and fresh. Some foodie plates for those of you that want to expand your palette and some go tos for those of you that would never eat 'that'. What ever that may be.  We started with a bottle of red wine a Pinot Nior recommended by our sever.  Two appetizers a Trio plate of dips with homemade chips and pickled vegetables. We also had a Fig and
