Spend Some Time in Nashville

Living in Atlanta does offer the ability to travel to many of the South's great cities by car. A few hours in a car with friends and you can have a mini vacation without the stress of the airport.
My friends and I decided to take some time and drive up to Nashville, is under 4 hours from us and the group was split between the 'been there before' and the 'my first time'. First, we rented a big dang truck! Large suitcases and all! Bluetooth the phone for all the music needs of the group and off we went!
We landed in Nashville early enough to drop the bags make a change and get off to dinner! We started the night at Tavern. A local place with a fresh menu and a large selection of craft beer and cocktails.  Not bad prices a little high however the sever was excellent! We then headed out in to the bars. There are several within walking distance of our hotel. We stayed near Broadway and Division so lots to walk to. Sliders had live music cheap beer and great service. This is a must stop in place! I love a $3 PBR!
Now so that you know the night clubs around the area on both sides of the coin. You have your country live music ones and your DJ ones. We split out time to both. I want to give you some of my top ones!
First, Play this place is huge with a couple rooms in it for different music but what I loved I have to tell you was the Drag show! Saturday night tickets started at $10 and there are several show times. Seating is limited and first come first serve so get ready to hawk for a table. But these ladies have some talent and come from all over the country! Check out their website for details. playdancebar.com
My second choice was Canvas, it would most likely be put in the dive bar category but it is far from that! Great bartenders great drinks and every night there is something going on. They have a karaoke night a DJ and even some theme nights! We loved it! The owner Derek was so nice and welcoming and so was his staff. It's deffently the place I would go to again and again! Canvaslounge.net is where you can go to check out what the bar has to offer. We used the hotel shuttle and Uber to get around but if you pick the right hotel most of it can be walked to which helps the pocket!
On that note we did drive in to town and walk Music row, see the Opry hotel and the Grande Ol Opry. Take some time and do the same. We came on a cold cold weekend but if you are here when it's nice riverside was pretty and they even have some bikeng rolling bars! You petal and drink w friends look liked fun!
Well I hope I gave you some ideas and that you check out you not so local cities around you! You might be surprised at the fun you will have. Go make some memories!

Nuevo Laredo Cantina best Mexican in town

Nothing better on a bright and sunny afternoon than a margarita on the rocks and some good company. So this week I decided to go on an adventure and check out Nuevo Laredo Cantina located at 1495 Chattahoochee Ave NW, Atlanta, GA 30318. It's a great little hidden spot in Atlanta that has some of the best Mexican food you can find!  Walked in and got a table in the main dinning   area. Where you will find decor that is Charming and funny. Lots of pictures and some great signs! Chips and fresh salsa hit the table first. The chips are warm and salsa is fresh and spicy! The server came on and took out orders. We ordered margaritas on the rocks w salt now I will tell you the drink to order is the Cadillac margarita it's big and fantastic, but it was a week day so I went with the smaller one still as tasty just smaller!  The serve them by the glass or pitcher and prices start at $6.50.  Now I will have to let you in on a secret if mine. I have a weakness for a Chili R...

Summer Shade Festival at Grant Park

I will be very honest with each of you I had no idea this festival existed and that I had missed it for 15 years!  I am so happy for social media because of it I learn about some amazing events in and around Atlanta. For starters, I follow ATL_events on twitter (you should too) this fantastic event expert shares everything from festivals to restaurant opens to so much more. I was lucky enough to see a tweet about winning VIP tickets and by doing so I RT and WON!  We picked up our tickets Saturday and went right into the VIP area. We were provided cups for our drinks, tickets to "buy" them and a band to get us in and out of the area. There was a raffle for a patio set for $2 a ticket and we bought a couple of those too.  There was a wonderful pavilion with furniture and tables, food, beer from Monday Night  and wine from 3 Parks Wine Shop . Everything was amazing, we had a great place to relax, listen to music, co...

Johnny's Hideaway Should Just Hide!

Now I will start with this...it was my boyfriends 40th birthday and he loves this place and while the server was great let me set the scene a little for you. Number 1 if you under the age of 50 you are no the demo for this place and the managers (by the way there are a couple) don't care for you then. The place is over stuffed with tables and chairs and little room to move, that have been in that bar since 1970.  You have to pay to valet and there is no other option. And they only take cash so prepare yourself for that one! Number 2 it turns out in this crap bar that wouldn't know an update if someone smacked them in the face with it. Including their food and drink options. They have a dress code yes I said it a dress code!! Now it's not posted on their web site...but there is a sign on the front door. Turns out you can't have writing on your shirt. Not a logo name brand nothing! Now I'm all for dress up on a night and had they stuck to this in all aspects I would r...
